We interviewed Dr. Jürgens, Head of the Retina Department and Medical Director of ICR – Ophthalmology Center, about new treatments for retina diseases, such as macular degeneration or diabetic retinopathy.
Lecture by Dr. Jürgens myopic maculopathy, an acquired macular disruption, generally a consequence of high myopia. It is a progressive pathology that can present itself in very early ages.
.According to a new study, few people with COVID will develop eye problems. However, when these problems do occur, they can range from mild to very serious vision problems. Many of them can even affect the retina.
Last February Dr. Agnieszka Dyrda presented at the 25th Winter Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) a paper prepared together with Dr. Pighin, Dr. Rey and Dr. Jürgens from the Department of Retina and Dr. Reyes from the Department of Refractive Surgery. In it the doctors shared their experience in the use of the novel Carlevale lens in patients treated at ICR.
Dr. Juan Francisco Santamaria, member of the ICR’s Department of Retina and Vitreous has published, together with Dr. Ignasi Jürgens, Medical Director of the Institut Català de Retina, the article titled Vitreous hemorrhage due to optic disc macroaneurysm, which describes the clinical case of a patient with a spontaneous vitreous hemorrhage without apparent reason.
Dr. Agnieszka Dyrda, member of the ICR’s Department of Retina and Vitreous and Department of Cataract, has published together with the European Society of Retina and Vitreous (EVRS) an article that evaluates at international level the different therapeutic approaches of this pathology and makes a review of the current literature on it.
