The Institut Català de Retina is an ophthalmological, medical and surgical centre with over 30 years experience. Its objective is the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of eye diseases, the visual system and the accessory visual structures.
The ICR Group comprises over 300 professionals. With a team of 90 ophthalmologists, the medical staff is divided into various subspecialities, represented by their corresponding departments and units.
The ICR provides comprehensive ophthalmological care covering all areas from eye tests through to the most complex eye surgery. The centre uses the most cutting edge technology for diagnostic tests, surgery and treatment and has a 24 hour emergency service.
The ICR has a prestigious team of professionals with wide ranging experience who are able to deal with the most complex cases. Thanks to its research department it is one of the leading centres in the field. It is accredited by the European Vision Institute (EVI) to carry out international clinical research trials, with the aim of promoting and enabling research of the highest quality and rigor in the field of ophthalmology.
Teaching is another key aspect of the ICR’s work. The centre has well established master’s programmes in medical-surgical ophthalmology as well as training medical residents and future doctors at the UIC (International University of Catalonia) Faculty of Medicine.
This work, together with the centre’s professional development, clinical protocols, congresses and weekly clinical sessions, enable us to offer our patients access to the latest treatments. The ICR is constantly updating its techniques based on the study and research carried out by the centre.
Patient care at the ICR is based on the professional quality of the care team and the priority given to personalised care with a human touch, something which we have over 30 years of experience in.
