At ICR’s Cataract Department, we have long been pioneers in the use of innovative intraocular lenses. This means we have early access to high-quality lenses, based on proven innovations and with scientifically verified safety and efficacy. In other words, our cataract patients can enjoy all the benefits these lenses offer for their vision and quality of life.
During cataract surgery, we replace the clouded natural lens (the cataract) with an intraocular lens. Some types of lenses not only restore vision but also reduce dependence on glasses.
EDOF (“Extended Depth of Focus”) lenses provide correction for (long) distance vision, good vision at intermediate distances, and functional near vision. In addition, they reduce the halos and nighttime glare that other types of multifocal lenses can cause.
We were already first users of the AcrySof Vivity EDOF lenses, and as of June 2025, we have once again become first users of the Vivity Clareon EDOF lenses. This new version represents an improvement in the lens’s optical quality while maintaining the same excellent refractive and visual acuity results.
