Dr. Rocío Rodríguez, head of the Department of Pediatric Ophthalmology and the Unit of Ocular Motility and Strabismus, participated as a speaker in the Congress of the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology (SEO), which took place in the Palacio Municipal de Congresos de Madrid from the 25th to the 28th of September.
This Congress, which is considered the most important in the country in ocular matters, gathers annually the most outstanding specialists in Ophthalmology. Over four days, hundreds of ophthalmologists participate in theoretical and practical activities, including symposia, refresher courses, video communications, clinical cases and surgical maneuvers. A technical-commercial exhibition and two photography competitions have also been held during the congress.
Dr. Rodríguez participated in the satellite meeting that the Spanish Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology (SEDOP) held on Friday, 27th September, in the framework of the SEO Congress. During the meeting, several specialists in pediatric ophthalmology shared techniques and experiences. As for Dr. Rodríguez, she defended the free communication entitled Queratoconjuntivitis, alternativa de tratamiento (Keratoconjunctivitis, an alternative treatment), developed by the members of the Department of Pediatric Ophthalmology of ICR. In it, the doctor explained that immunomodulators can avoid the use of corticosteroids in children.
The next SEO Congress will take place between 23rd – 26th September 2020 at the Palacio de Congresos e Exposicións de Galicia, in Santiago de Compostela.
