The next 30th and 31st of October will take place the XVIII course of Refractive Surgery, Cataract and Cornea ARI of Alicante, which on this occasion will be taught telematically. The course, directed by the lecturer from Alicante Jorge L. Alió, will have the participation of prestigious international and national ophthalmologists, among them, Dr. Francesc Duch, head of the Department of Refractive Surgery at ICR.
According to the organizers of the course, ARI wants to offer eye surgeons a complete overview of the current state of affairs regarding Refractive Surgery, Cataract and Cornea. To this end, the course will have five sessions where the latest advances in lenses and implants will be shown, as well as new techniques and treatments in refractive surgery. Attendees will also be able to discuss different special and complicated cases and receive keynotes from the best professionals in the sector.
ICLs, implantable collamer lenses, are one of the most important advances in vision correction technology. They are made of biocompatible material and are implanted in the back cavity of the eye with the aim of correcting different refractive errors, such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. These lenses also allow to treat cases in which the state of the patient’s cornea does not allow a laser surgery.
Those responsible for discussing the subject in the course will be Dr. Jorge Alió, who will talk about ICL lenses to treat the cornea, and Dr. Francesc Duch, who will give the lecture “Surgical maneuvers in the implant and management of the ICL”. This special talk will be composed of surgical videos focused on ICL surgery.
