Institut Català de Retina organizes annual research awards which recognize the merits of works, research, publications, doctoral theses and studies presented, publish or supported by ophthalmologists and other professionals of the center.

This year, the awarded professionals have been as follows:

First prize: Dr. Amanda Rey, Ophthalmologist of the ICR Department of Retina and Vitreous, for the paper “Surgical outcome of late in-the-bag intraocular lens dislocation treated with pars plana vitrectomy” published in the highly distinguished international journal “Retina, the Journal of Retinal and Vitreous diseases”.

Second prize: Dr. Núria Ibáñez, Head of  ICR Department of Orbit and Oculoplasty, for the paper on “Pericranium grafts for exposed orbital implants: an observational case-series study” published on the “Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery”.

Third prize: Dr. Daniel Vila, Ophthalmologist of the ICR Department of Retina and Vitreous, for the doctoral thesis on the “Value of a prospective study on the state of internal limiting membrane from intraoperative stains and of pathological anatomy when macular epiretinal membrane is removed” presented at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
